Grog

Grog is a hot alcoholic drink. In its most common form, it is rum, heavily diluted with water and sugar. Sometimes hot tea is used.

Before brewing, the beer must be degassed (pour all the beer into a large container and stir thoroughly or beat with a spoon), otherwise it may foam and “run away” during brewing.

Fill the pot with all the ingredients, including the beer, and put it on the fire. Stir occasionally and bring to a boil. Do not let it boil under any circumstances. Remove from the fire and pour into mugs. Don't forget to invite us to a tasting.

Vermouth with honey

Vermouth was originally created as a medicine that combined the taste of fine wine and medicinal plants. So don't ignore this product.

Vermouth is also considered an excellent antiseptic both in Ancient Greece and in modern society. It is used to improve digestion and as an aperitif. Vermouth is widely used in folk medicine and copes well with some ailments.

One of the main ailments that vermouth fights is cough and colds. To do this, 100 ml of vermouth is heated to 80°C and 1-2 tablespoons of honey are gradually added. The resulting mixture is cooled to room temperature and consumed daily, three tablespoons a day after meals. Although, more is possible - depending on the goal pursued.

Method of preparation without water

Heat the red wine to 70~78 °C together with sugar and spices. Do this over medium heat, stirring occasionally, then let the mulled wine sit covered for 40-50 minutes. This will allow the aroma of the spices to gradually open up. Do not bring the mulled wine to a boil.

It is better to use unground spices, otherwise you will not be able to filter the drink and it will squeak on your teeth. As a rule, cinnamon, cloves, lemon peel, star anise, honey, and ginger are added to mulled wine. Black pepper, allspice, bay leaf, and cardamom can be used. Apples, raisins, and nuts can also be added.

Method of preparation using water

In a container, boil water in a ratio of 150-200 ml per liter of wine, add spices. The spices are boiled in water for a while so that they give up their aromatic essential oils. After that, add sugar or honey. And only at the very end – wine.

Just like in the first option, mulled wine should never be brought to a boil. When boiling, it instantly loses its taste and a large proportion of its alcohol content. As soon as the white foam disappears from the surface of the wine, it is necessary to remove the container from the fire.
