Unexpected grilled dishes. Vegetarians will especially appreciate them.

When we talk about grilled food, we usually think about meat. Some people prefer vegetables and mushrooms.
But it turns out there are other products that can be used to make great dishes over an open fire. These dishes can become your signature dishes, and will be especially appreciated by vegetarians.
Salad and cabbage
It may seem strange that salad vegetables can be cooked on the grill. For example, you can choose lettuce or regular cabbage - you need to take them apart into leaves, or divide the head into 2 halves and bake over coals. It is better to grease it with a little vegetable oil, and then bake it on medium heat, cut side down, until a crust appears, but the leaves, at the same time, begin to wilt. There are recipes for making the same Caesar salad with the addition of grilled lettuce or cabbage, but you can make any salad with these ingredients. In addition to salad vegetables, it is also good to grill cauliflower and broccoli.
Pizza
Grilling pizza produces a crispy, toasted crust, just like using an oven. First, you have to toast the dough on one side at a medium temperature, after greasing the grill with oil so that the dough does not stick. Then you have to turn the dough over and put the toppings on top. Cook the pizza until the second side is browned. Since there is no heat from above in the grill, all the ingredients must be quick-cooking or already prepared.
Fruits
If you like caramelized fruits, you can grill them. For example, you can take pineapples, peaches, mangoes, bananas or avocados. Cut them into large slices, grease the grill with oil and grill at medium temperature. You can also marinate the fruits in a sweet marinade beforehand to get a sweet crust. For example, you can make a marinade from maple syrup, lemon juice or honey and orange juice. Grilled fruits can be eaten as a dessert, with ice cream, or as a side dish for meat, they also make great salads.
Cheese
Cheeses with a high melting point are great for grilling. Grilled cheese has a pleasant smoky smell. For example, Lebanese hallouni cheese, known in Europe thanks to the cuisine of Cyprus, or Italian hard cheese provolone with a long “maturing” period are suitable. Such cheeses should be cut into large slices and grilled on both sides until a dark crust forms. The finished cheese can be eaten with bread or vegetables. You can also sprinkle the cheese with seasonings and pepper to taste. Make sure that the cheese you use has a high melting point - for example, some types of feta cheese, otherwise it will quickly melt and burn.
Pie
Oddly enough, but the pie can also be cooked outdoors using a grill and coals. In this case, you will need a container for the pie and foil. Some bury the pie in medium-temperature coals or put it on the grate, but it must be possible to close the grill with a lid. The pie will be baked, as in the oven, on all sides. The most important thing in this case is to make sure that it does not burn. You can use ready-made dough from the store, and the filling can be very different - fruits, vegetables or meat.
