How This Girl Traveled to 180 Countries in 15 Months Using Other People's $$200K
Cassie De Pecol, 27, is set to break the Guinness World Record by becoming the fastest traveller to visit all 196 countries in the world in a short period of time.
Washington, D.C.-based Cassie began her journey in July 2015 and is now nearly completing her mission to visit all 193 sovereign nations, plus Taiwan, Kosovo and Palestine.
In the meantime, she has visited 180 countries, taking 254 flights in just 15 months. She has 45 days left to complete her adventurous journey.
Having a passion for travel, Cassie began planning her trip for her 25th birthday.
Now, over 15 months and 180 countries, she has spent about $198,000, much of which, naturally, has come from sponsors. Investors have also put money into making an educational documentary about Cassie's travels.
In addition, on her Instagram, the girl advertises eco-hotels in different countries, which in return provide her with free accommodation.
In addition, in each country, Cassie meets with international tourism students and works with scientists to collect water samples in different locations. On average, she spends 5 days in each country.
