Incredibly, the guy who won the best job in the world - caretaker of a tropical island - has found something better to do! Now he gets paid to travel with the man he loves.

British man Ben Southall made headlines after he was chosen from 34,000 applicants to become the caretaker of Hamilton Island on the Great Barrier Reef. But after his six-month contract expired, Ben decided not to return to his previous occupation. Instead, he continued travelling, started a blog and met a girl named Sophie, who, as it turned out, shares his views on how to spend life.

They have driven 87,000 km around the world, from Singapore to London, in an old sand-colored Land Rover. The couple set a goal to visit all the most beautiful places on Earth. Their blog is called The Best Life in the World.

“I don’t understand how people spend their entire lives in an office,” Ben wonders, probably to make us even more envious.

Still, he admits that the job of a travel blogger, who must constantly take the best photos of the best places on Earth and try not to disappoint his sponsors, is not easy.

"I'm sure I'll be back in the UK one day to see my family. I honestly miss them. But not the winter and the bad weather," Ben admits.

"Life is good when you live, work and travel with your loved one - even when you have to overcome some obstacles. Sitting in an office all day is terribly boring, I can't imagine how people endure such a job for decades," explains Ben.

Let us recall that Tourism Queensland announced a competition for the position of Hamilton Island caretaker in January 2009. In total, the company's employees received 34.7 thousand resumes from 200 countries. The duties of the island caretaker include feeding turtles, maintaining an Internet blog, and video and photographing the surrounding area. According to the employers, these duties will take no more than 12 hours per month.
The job was for six months and paid AUD 150,000 for the entire period. The winner received a house with a swimming pool, three bedrooms and two bathrooms. They were also provided with a golf course near the house and paid for a round-trip ticket to the place of work.
