This is the city of my dreams!

In the Spanish town of Marinaleda in southern Spain there is no police, no crime, no unemployment. Only a couple thousand people live there, and they have managed to build their own personal social democratic utopia.

Locals owe this achievement to their mayor, Juan Manuel Sánchez Gordillo. At the height of the financial crisis in 2008, he organized citizen raids on grocery stores, where they took, without paying, products they could not afford to buy: oil, rice, beans.

After all this, Gordillo not only did not end up behind bars, but also became the mayor of the city and managed to bring a socialist utopia to life. He built a city in which there is enough food and other necessary things for everyone.

An agricultural cooperative has appeared in the city, where almost all of its residents work. The profit is divided equally and comes to about 1,200 euros per person monthly.

Those who want to build their own home must contact the municipality and sign the relevant agreement.
If the area of the house does not exceed 192 square meters, then its construction will be paid for by the administration.

The only condition: pay the authorities 15 euros a month for the rest of your life. And the buyer can only sell a house built with community money to the mayor's office.

The mayor of the city is Juan Manuel Sanchez Gordillo.

"We have to rethink our values, the values of the consumer society. If we forget about money, egoism and individualism for a while, we can build a much more prosperous, happy and fair society," says Gordillo.
