How to Avoid Looking Like an "Auntie" in the Office: 10 Fashion Rules

Business style is not the easiest thing. Not every fashionista can maintain a balance between current trends and a strict dress code.
Shapeless two-piece suits - to the trash!
Baggy suits of an incomprehensible style, made of "shooting" polyester - perhaps the main "scourge" of business style. Many girls throw all their efforts into choosing things for their free time, on weekdays being content with a couple of the above-mentioned suits. At the same time, wearing such is strictly contraindicated for all women of any age and body type - it will inevitably spoil even the most luxurious figure and turn you into the notorious "aunt" in an instant.
Instead of creepy incubator suits, wear more interesting options to the office, for example, a long blazer + culottes or a soft kimono jacket + wide wool floor-length trousers.
More color!
White top, black bottom - this combination is associated with school "assemblies" and the class teacher, angry at the immodest length of your skirt (so what, at least it's black!). If you feel that all your business looks in black and white make you faceless, add color to your office outfits.
Of course, we are not offering you a “cheerful” mix of bright pink and acid green, but pastel and muted dark tones will certainly be a great solution and will fit perfectly into your wardrobe. And, by the way, do not forget about gray - its “right” shades almost always look stylish and expensive.
Shoes come first
Shoes can "make" an image, even if its "basis" is the most prosaic basic things. Therefore, shoes for work are doubly important - in this case, they "make" your business image.
You don't have to wear only heels to the office, unless this requirement is specified in your employment contract. Plain loafers, brogues and other men's-style shoes will look no less presentable than classic pumps. If you are not constrained by a strict dress code, try complementing trouser suits with laconic white sneakers.
Throw away the "tan" tights...
...and vague stretched knitwear
The very concept of a "blouse" does not bring anything good for you - most often, under this general word we mean something stretched out, washed out, possibly covered in pellets and puffs. This is not a pullover, not a sweatshirt, not a blouse or a shirt - this is exactly it, a shapeless creation of the Chinese light industry, hiding the quintessence of an "auntie". But even if your "blouse" is freshly bought, it is still better to forget about it - an indistinct thing will make your image and you yourself indistinct. And instead of a bunch of "blouses", get 1-2 high-quality basic things.
Take care of yourself
Work clothes should not be something utilitarian (unless, of course, we are talking about a special uniform) - always monitor its condition. Contrary to the opinion that the main thing is to fulfill your duties, management pays attention to the appearance of employees: a sloppy girl in a stretched sweater or a wrinkled suit is unlikely to evoke an association with a successful employee.
Neutral Makeup and Hairstyle
The other extreme is "war paint" and a hairdo cemented with hairspray for every day. Too "heavy" makeup inevitably adds age to you, like the Tower of Babel on your head.
Don't overgrow things "in case of a draft"
"Grandma's shawl", noticeably eaten by moths, and knitted socks or slippers "with ears" living under the table ("What if the heating in the office is turned off in winter?!"), clearly will not add you points in the race for the title of a recognized fashionista. But the status of "strange aunt" will be easily ensured. And yes, in order not to freeze at work, it is enough to dress according to the weather 🙂
No frills or excessive decoration
Too much "feminine" details can turn anyone into a "teapot babe". And endless ruffles on a blouse not only give off obvious bad taste, but also look out of date. We won't even talk about decor - rhinestones and other "delights" sank into oblivion in the middle of the first decade of the 2000s.
Forget about "respectability"
A string of pearls around the neck + pearl studs in the ears - this advice regarding office jewelry can be found on literally "every corner" on the Internet. However, in reality, pearls can easily add +10 years to their owner's real age and do not suit everyone.
Trying to add “respectability” to your style is doomed to failure from the start: a 20-year-old girl trying to try on the image of an experienced 45-year-old business lady will always look ridiculous, not stylish.
